Here’s a photo set from Otherwise at the P.O.D. Record Release show. The owner of the studio/label that I work for produced and mixed Otherwise’s last album (he mixed the P.O.D. record as well!)
These guys had a really great energy to their set and were super fun to shoot.

These shots are from the gig that Cruz played with The Heroine and Badwater last week in Santa Barbara.
Cruz is from Brasil and I’ve been working with them in various capacities over the last few years. They’ve grown a lot over the years and it’s good to see them really hit their stride now. The boys are touring all over the states this summer so keep an eye out for them!
Gonna try something a little different. I’ve had requests from people to see more photos from the shows that I shoot, so we’ll give this a try. Let me know if this works!
This is The Heroine. They’re a San Antonio based band that I became aware of after another band I work with turned me on to them. I had heard nothing but amazing things about their live show, so I was very eager to check them out.
I first saw them a few months ago at On the Rox, the little bar/venue on top of The Roxy. The energy that these guys put out was enormous. The tiny stage at On the Rox couldn’t contain them. I had heard about the singer, Lynwood, and his James Brown-esque manuevers of his mic stand. He throws that thing around with tremendous force AND accuracy. I thought for sure I was gonna get clipped, but he brings a new definition to mic control.
These photos are from a show they played last week in Santa Barbara with 2 other bands, Badwater & CRUZ. I had shot Cruz at the same venue the week prior, so I was familiar with the TINY stage and barely sufficent lighting. I knew it was gonna be a challenge BUT I knew that this was going to be an incredible oppurtuinity for an up close and personal show with The Heroine.
Right out the bat, The Heroine assaulted Whiskey Richard’s with their down and dirty AC/DC meets Motorhead hard rock. When these guys play, they give 150% every single time. My biggest challenge is/was trying to capture just a sliver of that energy on camera. I’m pretty pleased with the results, but I can’t wait to shoot them in a bigger venue with proper lighting.
